Who this is not for

If you are vegan, this is tallow. It is rendered beef fat and there is no way around that. Our bars and the capsule formulas are the plant-based end of the range.

If you want a cream that vanishes in two seconds and smells like a department store, this will annoy you. It is rich and you need less than you think.

How to use it

A small amount, and we mean small. Warm it between your fingers first, then press it into clean damp skin rather than rubbing it in.

Morning under SPF, or evening, or both. A jar lasts most people two to three months because the amount you need is about the size of a grain of rice.

Questions people actually ask about tallow

Does tallow clog pores?
Tallow is generally considered low on the comedogenic scale because its fatty acid profile is close to human sebum rather than foreign to it. That said, skin is individual. Patch test on your jawline for a few days before you commit it to your whole face.

Does it smell like beef?
No. Properly rendered tallow is close to odorless, and the botanicals carry a light natural scent. If a tallow product smells like a roast dinner, it was badly rendered.

Is tallow better than a normal moisturizer?
Different, rather than better. Conventional moisturizers are mostly water and need emulsifiers and preservatives to hold together. Tallow is a lipid, so it works on the barrier rather than on hydration alone. Many people use a hydrating layer first and tallow on top to seal it.

Can I use it on acne-prone skin?
Some people with acne-prone skin do very well on tallow and some do not. Start with two nights a week on a small area and build from there rather than switching your whole routine at once.

Is it grass-fed?
Yes. Grass-fed tallow has a different fatty acid and vitamin profile to grain-fed, and it is the reason this costs what it costs.

Can I use it around my eyes?
Yes, and it is one of the better places for it. Use even less than you think there.

What is the difference between the three creams?
Golden Radiance is the brightening one for morning. Sacred Meadow is the calming one for reactive or sensitive skin. Lunar Renewal is the restorative one for overnight. They layer, and plenty of people use two.

Does it need refrigerating?
No, but keep it out of direct sun and away from a hot bathroom radiator. Tallow softens in heat and firms up again when it cools, which changes the texture but not the product.
